Baby Teeth By: Zoje Stage Mini Review

Baby Teeth reminded me a bit of that old movie The Bad Seed. I love how the POV went back and forth between Suzette and Hanna. For me, it was almost like a double unreliable narrator type of thing. Which I LOVE unreliable narrators! The story is very fast-paced and the ending is phenomenal. It left me with a lot of questions still unanswered, but in a good way! The best books are the ones that you keep thinking about long after you're done reading them. I recommend Baby Teeth for sure.

Top Ten Tuesday- Top Ten Books I Meant To Get To In 2017

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted here at The Broke and the Bookish. The topic this week is Top Ten Books I Meant To Get To In 2017. I sure do have plenty of those for a list, but I narrowed it down to ten and hopefully I will get to them all this year!

Anyway, I'll do a book haul post later in the week or next week and I think at that time I'll make a complete TBR list that I will do my best not to deviate from. I need help and an intervention obviously! LOL!

Now I Rise (The Conqueror's Saga #2) By: Kiersten White Mini Review

I really enjoyed reading Now I Rise, but I didn't love it quite as much as And I Darken. Since I loved the first book so much I couldn't wait to start this one and see what happens next to the Dracul siblings. The story is terrific, however I struggled to stay focused around the middle mark. I found myself a tad bored and frustrated with it for a short time until the pace picked back up again.

The best thing about this series for me is Lada and how ferocious she is. I liked her even more so in this book. I just adore how she is not your stereotypical female character. She is not going to wear a dress, she doesn't care how her hair looks, but she certainly kicks butt! I also love Radu's storyline and the struggles he faces with his feelings and loyalties.

Overall I did like Now I Rise quite a bit, despite the minor pacing issue for me around the middle. This series is spectacular and I love how dark it is. I definitely recommend it and I can't wait for book three. I'm dying to see how things will go...I hope it's dreadfully brutal and bloody.

Never Let You Go By: Chevy Stevens Review

I've been wanting to read a Chevy Stevens book so I was really excited to win a copy of Never Let You Go! Especially since I've been in a mystery/thriller mood for quite some time now.  I will say since I've read so many books in that genre the past year or so that I'm starting to get pretty picky about them. With that being said, this one did not disappoint!

First off, most importantly for me with a mystery/thriller, there is a great twist!! Hallelujah! I did guess a tiny bit of the twist, but not all of it. Also, the big part of the twist that I didn't guess is really great and very unexpected. That's always a win for me anytime I can be surprised.

I also really enjoyed the writing style. It flows really well, which is just what I needed right now since I've been busy and reading so slowly. I ended up reading about 75% of Never Let You Go in one day though since I enjoyed it so much. As for the characters, Lindsey and her daughter both kind of got on my nerves a little bit for being so oblivious. Other than that, I did like them and I did feel for them. I also enjoyed their mother/daughter relationship, even though it was far from perfect.

Overall Never Let You Go was a win for me! The writing flows well, the plot is on point, and the twist definitely worked for me. I would love to read another Chevy Stevens book sometime.

The Devil Crept In By: Ania Ahlborn Review

I have been wanting to read one of Ania Ahlborn's books for a while now. I'm so glad I got a chance to read this one because I absolutely loved it! It wasn't very fast-paced for most of the book, but it was atmospheric and eerie. It suited the story so well and I'm a sucker for an atmospheric read.

One thing I like most about The Devil Crept In is that the story is told from Stevie's POV. It's very interesting to read creepy stories from a child's perspective. Stevie is ten years old and it's his best friend Jude that is missing. He is determined to find out what happened and of course things get creepy!

Honestly, I don't have anything bad to say about this book. The story is fantastic, the writing flows well and is engaging, it's eerie and atmospheric, and the ending is ON POINT!! There are a couple of good twists as well, which I always appreciate.

Overall I loved The Devil Crept In and it's just such a well written and creepy book. It's exactly what I have been in the mood for. I can't wait to read more by this author!
