Burned By: Karen Marie Moning Review

Well let me preface this review by saying that I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority opinion about this book. The same with Iced, which I was pretty middle of the road about. Burned made me irrationally angry. Which I actually have rational reasons, but I only say irrational because it's irrational to be this upset about a book. Right?!

Irrational or not, I am very angry about this book. I took a bit of time before I even started writing this review because I was so upset after I finished it that I needed to calm down a bit. I'm sorry to those that did like this book, but I have to be honest. Burned was terrible. Here's a quick list of why I didn't like the novel:
  • It was all over the place with too many POVs in the beginning.
  • It had a very slow start for me.
  • I am not a Dani fan. After too much of her in Iced I could have done without her in this one.
  • The plot was so slow. Nothing important ever really happened till close to the end.
  • Then of course we get another cliffhanger. Seriously?
  • I HATED the "twist."
If you've read this series then I'm sure you know what twist I'm referencing. Not surprising that I hated it considering how I feel about some other things in the series. I'm just so darn disappointed! All I've heard since I started this series is how big the twist in this book is. Then I get to it and I feel so let down by it.

Now due to the cliffhanger at the end I'm not sure whether or not to read Feverborn. I really think for me that this series should have ended with Shadowfever.  However, the cliffhanger at the end of this one made me curious about that and also I would like to see if there will be more about Lor. I really liked Lor in this one! That's the only reason I gave this two stars instead of one star.

Gah! I'm just so pissed off that this book was so terrible! Also, it makes me even madder that because of the cliffhanger I may push on and read the next book. Grr.

Overall I'm incredibly disappointed by how downhill this series has gone. I really loved the first five books and if I look at just those then the series is one of my favorites. However, I do really seem to be in the minority about this one and Iced. So don't let my bad review steer you away if want to read this one!

I recommend Burned only for those who enjoyed Iced. I think if you disliked or were meh about Iced like I was, then you may be unhappy about this one.

Iced (#6 in the Fever Series) By: Karen Marie Moning Review

Up until now I have rated every book in this series five stars. As you can tell from my rating, Iced is definitely my least favorite book in The Fever Series so far. It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't say it was enjoyable either.

Out of everyone that I have talked to I know I am in the minority here, but I don't like Dani. Since this is Dani's book that kind of presented a problem for me. So I was really hoping that Iced would change my view about Dani. Don't shoot me Dani fans, but I still don't care for Dani. I do find her a tad annoying, but that wasn't my biggest problem with her having her own book. The bigger issue here is that I did not want a teenager POV book in my ADULT urban fantasy series. Don't get me wrong I read a lot of YA and I don't mine a teenage POV, it just doesn't fit in this series for me. I think I would have liked this book better from Jo's perspective or maybe Ryodan's.

Another thing that I didn't care for was all the weird pedo type stuff in here. Especially with Christian. Ew. Just ew. I feel like the author tried to have reasons for all of this in here and make it not as bad, but still ew.

Up until Iced Karen Marie Moning's writing has been superb. I don't know what went wrong in this one. I can't even think about Snickers bars right now without feeling a bit sickened. I swear by halfway I almost threw this book at the wall every time Dani ate a snickers. The writing in Iced was extremely repetitive, but hey it would make a great drinking game.

1.) Drink every time Dani eats a snickers.
2.) Drink every time Dani says no one can tame her.
3.) Drink every time Dani mentions not wanting to be caged.
4.) Drink every time Christian is a pervert.
5.) Drink every time Ryodan threatens someone.
6.) Drink every time Dani says "Dude."

Don't get me wrong, this entire book wasn't crap. I mean I gave it 3 stars which means I liked it, but I didn't love it. It's a part of this fabulous series and I still really enjoyed some things. I loved the parts with the Hoar Frost, Christian's plot line when he wasn't being a pedophile, Dancer (too bad he wasn't in it even more), and I even liked Ryodan (a little bit) too. I am glad that I read Iced, but I can't wait to get back to Mac and Barrons.

Overall, this one just ended up meh for me compared to all of the other books in the series. Half of the book was great and the other half was complete garbage. I'm so glad Burned will go back to Mac, but I hope I'm not too burned out on the series from this one. Sorry Dani lovers, don't hate me! :)

Shadowfever By: Karen Marie Moning Review

Shadowfever is the best book in this series so far! This series just keeps getting better and better. The beginning of this book is extremely emotional. To avoid spoilers, I won't say why, but I just tried not to bawl like a baby. I even had to set the book aside for a few minutes a couple of times so I could pull myself together. Now that's great writing!

Since this is the 5th book in the Fever series I will keep this review super short because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone just starting the series or not on this book yet.

Everything about Shadowfever was fantastic. The writing, the characters, the sexual tension, and the plot twists!! The plot twists really made me happy because I had a few theories on things (I was right lol), but there were a lot of twists that I didn't guess. I love any book that can keep me on my toes and this one did a great job.

Overall I'm just incredibly happy with Shadowfever and with all of the answers we got in the book. I wasn't sure some things would end up how I wanted or to my satisfaction, but I have to say I'm pleased with all of it. I am a little hesitant to read Iced (Dani's book) next since I'm not sure how I feel about her character. Plus she is a teenager and I don't know if I want to read a book in this series from a teenage perspective. Well I bought Iced and Burned so I will read it soon and I hope that Iced is better than I'm expecting it to be. I think Burned goes back to Mac's perspective so either way that's good news for me.

I would recommend this series to anyone. Seriously. It's amazeballs. Go start this series before I kick your petunia.

Bloodfever, Faefever, and Dreamfever By: Karen Marie Moning TRIPLE MiniReviews!

View Bloodfever on Goodreads View Faefever on Goodreads View Dreamfever on Goodreads

5 Stars for all three of these books!! I am LOVING this series! I am sorry that all three of these will be condensed into this one review, but I have been into reading these so much that I haven't wanted to get on here and write a review. I want to keep reading them. Also, since I've read them all back to back I may not remember 100% what was in each book, so please bear with me. :D

Bloodfever:

I love the prologue where you get a quick run down of what happened in the first book to jog your memory. I think this one and Faefever did that perfectly.

I still enjoyed Mac's character development in this one and she's already so much more mature than in the first book.

The thing I liked most about Bloodfever is BARRONS. I did not like him at all in the first book, but in this one he won me over. He is still a jackass, but a sexy jackass in this one. I love the convos (and non verbal convos) between him and Mac. I still like V'lane a lot as well, but Barrons is my favorite out of the two. This series is seriously so addicting.

Faefever:

I think this one maybe my favorite book in the series...so FAR. The sexual tension between Mac and Barrons was off the charts and perfect. The part with the cake was so gooooooood.

I'm still loving Mac/Barrons/V'lane and Mac continues to have great character development and she is becoming bad ass. The plot for this one was fantastic. I have to say I don't think that LM killed Alina though.

My favorite part in Faefever was when Mac was listening to her iPod and she had on her MacHalo and she was singing and dancing...and Barrons came in!! I laughed out loud for real.

The cliffhanger at the end of this book almost killed me. Literally. I had to immediately go to the bookstore and buy the next books. I bought all of them, except Iced (they didn't have it), so I better hurry and get that one too.

Dreamfever:

The beginning of this one was CRAZY!! Crazy and good. I am amazed at some of the things the author has done with this series. I can't believe she has gone there with some of the plot lines. I'm loving it. BARRONS. That's all I can say about that.

I can't say enough how much I am loving Mac's character development. It is pretty rare that a series can have a character with such great character development throughout each book. This shares the top spot as a few characters in the Harry Potter series and Dresden from the Dresden files as being my favorite character development in a series. Karen Marie Moning does a fabulous job!! Mac is now officially a bad ass heroine who will kick your butt and do what needs to be done. And look good doing it too.

One tiny complaint...I don't like Dani. There I said it. I keep having people tell me they love her, but I don't. I am hoping it will be like with Barrons and later I will like Dani better. I have a good reason for not liking her though, but you may not want to read my theory if you haven't read this far in the books yet.

*****I think that Dani killed Alina. Something isn't right with Dani and I don't think that LM killed her so this is my theory. Dani was acting pretty fishy (and asking questions about sisters) and hiding something. I can't wait to see if I'm right, but I kinda hope not because I want to like her. I just don't. *****

Overall I LOVED all of these books. The Fever Series is addicting, sexy, badass, and it does Fae right. If you've been a follower for a while then you may know that Charlaine Harris kind of ruined Fae for me. Until now. Karen Marie Moning has saved the day! If you haven't started this series yet, you need to.

I recommend this series for anyone who enjoys Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, and bad ass heroines.
