First Grave on the Right is a solid start to the series. I thought it was a great blend of urban fantasy and paranormal romance mixed with comical mystery. Although it wasn't quite as funny as I was expecting it was still pretty hilarious.
I just love Charley. She is such a character and very intriguing. From the beginning of the book Charley just cracked me up with all of the shenanigans she got into. I also really loved Reyes. He is HOT, HOT, HOT. I also liked Garrett, but in a different way. I'm very curious to see what will happen with them in future books.
Even though I expected humor and some paranormal suspense in the book, I was surprised how deep First Grave on the Right was as well. I was not prepared for the emotional aspects of the book. In particular with regards to what happened between Charley and her step mother. It was a nice surprise to see some good depth in the book! I'm always a fan of that.
Overall this book was a lot better than I thought it would be. There was a little bit of everything in the book and it all fit together nicely. I can't wait to get more books in this series.
I would recommend First Grave to the Right for fans of The Dresden Files and The Stephanie Plum novels. If you like both then you would love this because it is a great mix of the two!
