Top 5 Books of 2015 So Far-
THE DEEP BY: NICK CUTTER
The Deep
Earlier this year I stumbled upon another Nick Cutter book, The Troop (which I also recommend) on goodreads. I noticed on that book that Stephen King gave it high praise. Being the huge Stephen King fan that I am, I read The Troop from his recommendation. I'm glad I did. It was a phenomenal read. So when I noticed he had a new novel, The Deep, coming out in January I had to read it as well. I saw it described as The Abyss meets The Shining and that's exactly what it was like. In The Deep there is a plague called The 'Gets causing people all over the world to forget things. Eventually even making their bodies forget how to perform involuntary functions. In the Mariana's Trench a substance called Ambrosia has been found and with it, hopes for a cure. Most of the story takes place in a research lab eight miles under the sea, where something freaky is lurking. If you like horror, psychological suspense Stephen King novels, Joe Hill novels, The Abyss, or The Shining then I highly recommend this book to you.
REMEMBER MIA BY: ALEXANDRA BURT
Remember Mia
Remember Mia is actually an ARC book I won in the Goodreads First Reads program. Even though I received it as an ARC, it is for sale now as of July 7th. I'll admit I was hesitant when I entered in for this giveaway. It was promoted as Girl on the Train meets Gone Girl, but I wasn't looking to read "the next" anything. However, I was really in the mood for psychological suspense, thriller, suspense, mystery, and intrigue so I entered with the hope that it would be pretty good. I won, and less than 6 weeks later it showed up in my mailbox. Well let me tell you Remember Mia had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's about a woman named Estelle who wakes up after being found near dead, and she realizes that her infant daughter is missing. The worst part is that Estelle can't explain anything because she has some memory loss. As a mother, I found the idea of this to be terrifying. I am very surprised and disappointed that I haven't seen more book buzz about this one. I enjoyed it far more than Gone Girl or Girl on the Train. I do recommend it for those who enjoyed either of those novels or psychological suspense in general.
UPROOTED BY: NAOMI NOVIK
Uprooted
I heard about Uprooted via a Penguin Random House representative that came and visited my IRL book club. Immediately the premise of Uprooted caught my attention and I knew I needed to read it. It is a magical, fantasy, fairy tale retelling with dragons. That's all I'm going to tell you. You can read the plot listed on goodreads, but it won't do it justice. I can't explain it well enough to do it justice. You will just have to read it. Uprooted is definitely my #1 favorite book of the year. Everything about it is superb, you won't be sorry if you read it.
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES BY: SARAH J. MAAS
A Court of Thorns and Roses
I adore Sarah J. Maas. Her Throne of Glass series is home to my favorite book heroine Celaena Sardothien. So when I saw Sarah J. Maas had a new series coming out, of course I had to read it! There has been a ton of book buzz about this one, so I will spare you a plot summary. I can't wait for the next books in the series.
ALIVE BY: SCOTT SIGLER
Alive
Alive is another book that I won through the Goodreads First Reads program. This one actually doesn't come out until 7/14/15. Four more days!! Alive is a YA science fiction and dystopian novel. I have to admit to you that I am really tired of dystopian novels. However, this one was pleasantly different and the end kicks ass. I will skip a plot summary on this one as well, because the less you know the better. It's also noted in the back of the ARC copy by the author to please not share spoilers. I need to read his Infected series soon, it looks good as well.
Honorable Mentions-
RACING THE SUN BY: KARINA HALLE
Racing the Sun
Racing the Sun is yet another Goodreads win. I had some good ones so far this year! This one is also not yet published. The date it is set to be on sale is 7/28/15. This is the first book by Karina Halle that I've read and I would love to read more. It is a NA (New Adult) novel set in Italy filled with travel and romance. The setting of the story is perfect, the descriptions of everything are just gorgeous, and the romance was top notch. If you hurry there is a giveaway listed on Goodreads for this one in the US until July 13, 2015.
EMMY & OLIVER BY: ROBIN BENWAY
Emmy & Oliver
When Emmy & Oliver were in 2nd grade, Oliver was kidnapped by his dad. Now, 10 years later he's back. Everyone is struggling to try and fit the pieces back together. This was a very sweet, cute, and sad novel. There was a romance, but the whole thing was not about the romance. There is a lot more to this novel that just a cutesy romance.
FINDERS KEEPERS (BILL HODGES TRILOGY #2) BY: STEPHEN KING
Finders Keepers
It's Stephen King. Of course it's awesome.
THE SHADOWS (BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD #13) BY: J.R.WARD
The Shadows
I love this series! Guilty pleasure fun. ;)
CONFESS BY: COLLEEN HOOVER
Confess
I just recently got into Colleen Hoover. Her writing style is so addictive. Once I start reading her books, I just can't stop. I've now read most of her novels and they are SO GOOD!!
