The Crown and the Arrow (The Wrath and the Dawn #0.5) By: Renee Ahdieh Mini Review

As you may know I don't read a lot of prequels and novellas. A lot of times I don't care for them so I steer clear of them for the most part. The Crown and the Arrow is free on Amazon right now so I figured what the heck I will give it a shot.

This novella is only 9 pages long and it's a snippet from Khalid's POV. I thought it was okay. It was intriguing to see from Khalid's POV and lord knows I'm glad it was not a full book from his POV. I do NOT want that at all, but this being a quick read was fine. However, I found it unnecessary. Which is why I didn't rate it higher. I just wanted something in there that made me say oh hey I'm so glad I read that. Which was not the case for me.

Overall The Crown and the Arrow is not a necessary read, but it wasn't a bad read either. It's super short and free on Amazon right now so if you are a fan of The Wrath and the Dawn I would say go ahead and give this a go if you want. I don't think you are missing anything if you decide not to read it though.

*Note* I'm not sure if this is still free on Amazon or not.

Waiting on Wednesday- The Rose and the Dagger By: Renee Ahdieh

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature/meme hosted here at Breaking the Spine. The idea behind it is to share upcoming releases that we can't wait to get our hands on!

My pick for this week is The Rose and the Dagger By: Renee Ahdieh. I finally read the Wrath and the Dawn this January and now I can't wait for the sequel! I'm half sorry I didn't read it sooner and I half wish I had waited even longer. I don't know how I will wait till May! I'm sure there are a lot of us in the same boat on this one. I can't wait to see what happens with Shahrzad and Khalid. I need this to be EPIC. Also, I am dying for more information about her powers! If you haven't read The Wrath and the Dawn yet then I suggest you do, but maybe wait till closer to May. It really is torture waiting on this one.

Expected Publication Date: May 3,2016

Summary From Goodreads:

Anyone else waiting on this one? Okay, I'm sure there are a lot of us waiting! What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

The Wrath and The Dawn By: Renee Ahdieh Review

Hey guys! So I'm late to the party on this one. I've been wanting to read The Wrath and The Dawn since it came out last May, but I just now got around to it!

With all of the rave reviews for this book I have to admit that I have been torn between dying to read it myself and being afraid I will hate it because it's been over hyped. I hate when that happens (Red Queen...cough...cough) and hey not every book is for everyone.

But this one is!!!!!

Okay probably it's not really for EVERYONE, but it has to be pretty close to that. It's one of my new favorites for sure. If you're looking for a book that completely captivates you from page one, then look no further! Read this one. :)

I've never read A Thousand and One Nights, but this retelling has made me curious about that one. I loved everything about The Wrath and The Dawn and there was never a dull moment. The writing is just that fabulous in this book. I really enjoyed how the author painted such a vivid picture. I don't know if it was the choice of words used or something else, but I had such an easy time picturing everything. The atmosphere in this one was on point. 100%. This is just what I wanted when I tried to read A Thousand Nights By: E.K. Johnston, but I didn't get (I DNF'd that one) with that one at all.

Another thing I really loved is Shazi!!! I have decided that Shazi is my second favorite female character (Celaena Sardothien is #1) because she is the full package for me. She's badass, beautiful, witty, and intelligent. Which is the perfect recipe for a female character that I am sure to love. Shazi is definitely an unforgettable character that you just have to root for.

Overall The Wrath and The Dawn is just as fabulous as I've been hearing. I feel like a dummy for waiting so long to read it. Now I can't wait for The Rose and The Dagger coming out this May!

I recommend The Wrath and The Dawn for anyone who loves retellings, wants a really atmospheric novel, and basically anyone. Because it's just that great.
