Hey guys! So I'm late to the party on this one. I've been wanting to read The Wrath and The Dawn since it came out last May, but I just now got around to it!
With all of the rave reviews for this book I have to admit that I have been torn between dying to read it myself and being afraid I will hate it because it's been over hyped. I hate when that happens (Red Queen...cough...cough) and hey not every book is for everyone.
But this one is!!!!!
Okay probably it's not really for EVERYONE, but it has to be pretty close to that. It's one of my new favorites for sure. If you're looking for a book that completely captivates you from page one, then look no further! Read this one. :)
I've never read A Thousand and One Nights, but this retelling has made me curious about that one. I loved everything about The Wrath and The Dawn and there was never a dull moment. The writing is just that fabulous in this book. I really enjoyed how the author painted such a vivid picture. I don't know if it was the choice of words used or something else, but I had such an easy time picturing everything. The atmosphere in this one was on point. 100%. This is just what I wanted when I tried to read A Thousand Nights By: E.K. Johnston, but I didn't get (I DNF'd that one) with that one at all.
Another thing I really loved is Shazi!!! I have decided that Shazi is my second favorite female character (Celaena Sardothien is #1) because she is the full package for me. She's badass, beautiful, witty, and intelligent. Which is the perfect recipe for a female character that I am sure to love. Shazi is definitely an unforgettable character that you just have to root for.
Overall The Wrath and The Dawn is just as fabulous as I've been hearing. I feel like a dummy for waiting so long to read it. Now I can't wait for The Rose and The Dagger coming out this May!
I recommend The Wrath and The Dawn for anyone who loves retellings, wants a really atmospheric novel, and basically anyone. Because it's just that great.
I have this one as one of my TBR Pile Challenge books this year. Hopefully, I'll get to it real soon. Glad you enjoyed this!
ReplyDeleteIt was really great! I was concerned because of all the hype. I hope you enjoy it too when you get to read it.
DeleteI'm really happy you loved this one. I was expecting to love it because of all the rave reviews but I think my expectations were too high so I struggled with the romance a bit. But I'm still going to give book 2 a shot! I'm thrilled that you adored it so much though!
ReplyDeleteGreat review!
I think the romance will be even better in the second book. Well I hope so anyway! I hope we both love it. :)
DeleteI really need to read this book! I've see nothing but amazing reviews, so I know I'm going to love it when I get to it :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely give it a shot!! There's been so much hype, but it's a good one. At least worth checking out. I hope you love it when you get to read it.
DeleteWelcome to the club Erin, welcome! I adore this book so much because Shazi is NOTHING but sass, I also love the tortured romance. UGH. Renee is also one of the best human beings I've ever met!

DeleteThanks for adding us in Google! Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that, and even if I did, I have no idea how to make it give me notifications when you post... Do you happen to have any advice for me?
ReplyDeleteEEE!!! I'm so glad you loved The Wrath and the Dawn! I still have yet to see a negative review for it (surprising), and I hope to continue that streak! I loved TWATD so much. The retelling aspect of it was played out perfectly, and of course Shazi fit like a glove in the story. I'm so excited for TRATD, how about you?
