The Library at Mount Char By: Scott Hawkins Review

The Library at Mount Char is such an odd book, but it is also a fantastic read. When I first started reading this one I was thinking, "What?" At first nothing really made sense and it was just so strange, but the story was intriguing so I continued. I sure am glad that I did! A few years ago I probably would have given up instead and missed out on a really great book. This is one that takes patience to read, but it's well worth it.

I loved the uniqueness of the story, but it's one that you really need to read for yourself. I don't want to give any of the story away! It's so different and extremely imaginative. The writing is addictive and I never knew what was going to happen next. It's so rare to read something this original. There are a lot of fantasy elements, but there is also magical realism, a little bit of horror, and a hint of humor.  Let me just say that by the end of this novel my mind was BLOWN.

Overall The Library at Mount Char is a little difficult to get through at first (maybe it's easier if you read A LOT of fantasy), but then it turned out to be spectacular. This was one crazy ride that's for sure.

I recommend this one to all fantasy fans and to anyone willing to be a little patient at first. I think that if you are looking for something truly unique and original then you would like this one. Prepare to be confused at first and then amazed!
