One True Loves By: Taylor Jenkins Reid ARC Review
Thank you to NetGalley and Washington Square Press for allowing me to read and review an ebook copy of One True Loves By:Taylor Jenkins Reid.
I was really intrigued by this one simply because I wanted to know which love Emma would pick. Will she pick the man she already married and thought was dead or the man that she has moved on with and is now engaged to? The plot summary alone made me really curious to read this one so when I saw it on NetGalley I had to request it!
I have never read anything by Taylor Jenkins Reid before, but I would definitely read another one of her books. I really enjoyed One True Loves. This book was pretty darn heart wrenching in parts and super cute in other parts.
I really liked Emma's character and how the book wasn't just about her love life. There is also a whole story where she finds herself and where she fits in. I just love that in books!!
As for who she picked though, I have to say it was a tad bit lame. And by lame I mean predictable. I would have given this one 5 Stars, but there wasn't any tension or anything as far as what guy she picked. It was completely obvious from very early on and I wanted a little bit of suspense or something there. So it lost a little bit of that OOMPH for me.
Overall One True Loves is a pretty great contemporary romance. This novel was a bit bittersweet and definitely tugs on the heartstrings. It's definitely worth a read, even though I wanted it to be a bit more intense as far as what man Emma was going to pick.
I would recommnd One True Loves for fans of Nicholas Sparks, Emily Giffin, and Sarah Dessen.

ReplyDeleteI've never read one of her books before, but I liked this one enough that I would read more of hers. Oh what a fun buddy read! I hope y'all like it. I think I first heard about it on your blog so thanks!!!!
DeleteI loved her debut so I'm glad this was a good one as well.
ReplyDeleteWhich one was her debut book? This one was pretty darn great!
DeleteI'm not much for the romance genre, but I do like a little bit of it once in a while, and I agree that that sounds like an interesting summary. The suspense is what makes it so great, though - I might not make it through a book like that without such suspense.
ReplyDeleteI totally just noticed the "award free blog" portion of your comment box lol. Sorry. However, I nominated you for the Infinity Dreams Award, and if you'd like to do it (even if it's months down the road), great! If not, no problem! :)
I totally get that! I like a little more suspense in mine usually as well. This one was still pretty great though.
DeleteAwe thanks for the nomination!!! :) :)
I'm glad this was a good read for you overall, Erin. I'm a little curious to see who she picks but I'm also a little sad it was predictable. I hope I like it! I can't wait!

DeleteI kind of skimmed this one because I didn't know there would be a book two to her previous novel which I've been wanting to get for some time. I hope to get to it soon and it sounds like you liked it.
ReplyDeleteI mean I kind of skimmed your review. Silly me.
