My pick for this week is The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein By: Kiersten White. A retelling of Frankenstein from Elizabeth's POV by Kiersten White? YES!!!! Gimmie, gimmie! That's all I needed to know to be sold on this one. Also, last week I believe was the cover release and I LOVE THE COVER! I can't wait until September for this one. I rarely do pre-orders, but I might have to pre-order this book.

The Reflections of Queen Snow White By: David Meredith Review

First off a big thank you to the author for providing an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! 

I have seen The Reflections of Queen Snow White around on a few other blogs and it looked like an intriguing story. So when the author sent me an email request to read and review the book I was really excited! This is definitely a story that is up my alley and I was extremely curious to see what happened to Snow White after the happily ever after.

This book begins about thirty years later (I think it was thirty, don't quote me.) and Prince Charming has died. Due to this Snow White is very melancholy and is having a hard time moving on. Even though her daughter is getting married and needs her, Snow White is depressed. I felt a lot of emotion for Snow White throughout the whole book. Whether she was sad, angry, hurt or whatever the author did a great job conveying these emotions to the reader. Which I really LOVE that in a book.

While I can't say this is a new favorite book, it was very enjoyable. I read most of it in a day! Once I really had some time to sit down and read it really flew by. So it was definitely an engaging read as well as enjoyable. The writing flows really well and I was just fascinated by what an aging Snow White is up to now. However, there was just something missing for me. There wasn't anything in the novel that was BAD, but I feel like it needed MORE. It seemed pretty short and I think there were more things that could have been explored. The ending was a little rushed and a little too abrupt for me.

Overall The Reflections of Queen Snow White was pretty good and very enjoyable. This was not an Earth shattering or perfect read for me, but definitely one worth reading. I just wish that the story had been longer and really expanded upon.

I recommend The Reflections of Queen Snow White for fans of fairy tales and retellings. Also, for anyone just interested in what happened after Snow White's HEA.

Winter By: Marissa Meyer Review

I have finally done it. I  finished Winter, the last book in The Lunar Chronicles series. It took me long enough, but it was worth it. It was everything I wanted it to be and more, but now I have series ending depression. I can't believe it's over. I'm sad and I wish there was more. I may end up having to go back and read Fairest, even though I'm not usually a prequel/novella fan. I may have to at some point though, just because I'm not ready to leave this world. This book was over 800 pages and it still wasn't enough. I would even like to see more after where this book leaves off, even if it's just a short novella to see what everyone is doing.

I have to admit that at the beginning of this book I really didn't care for Winter. Or Jacin. Or anything having to do with them. I was starting to wonder if that would make me hate the book, but then luckily I started to like Winter little by little. Surprisingly, by the end of the book she became one of my favorite characters, maybe even my number one favorite character. As for all of the other characters, I loved them as usual and I am really happy about how they all ended up.

Although, for a while Kai did get on my nerves a little bit because I was wondering if he was ever going to do anything useful. Is it just me or does it seem like he was kind of blah and useless in this book until the end? Maybe that's just me.

I really enjoyed the humor in this book (especially with Cinder's foot LOL) as well. The whole novel was just magical, it's that good. The writing was superb, the plot was entertaining, all the characters that I loved from the other books were still fantastic, and the ending did not let me down. That's all I can ask from a final book in any series. There's just so much to love in this book! Like Cress + Thorne! <3

Overall Winter gave me so many feels throughout and it was just PERFECT. I recommend it to anyone who has read the other books in the series, you won't be disappointed.

I had to DNF A Thousand Nights By: E.K. Johnston!!!! :(

I tried so hard to get into this book, but I couldn't do it. I had to DNF A Thousand Nights because it was making me miserable. It really is a shame because I was really looking forward to reading it! I was thrilled when I got approved on NetGalley. I was ready for an entertaining story filled with adventure, fantasy, and magic.  A Thousand Nights wasn't like that for me. It's not what I had been expecting at all.

Some things I didn't like:

1.) Um... does anyone besides Lo-Melkhiin have a name!?

2.) The main character kept talking about her sister and father. My sister this, my sister that, my sister this, my father that, my father this... OMG STOP.

3.) The writing was flat.

4.) Too much description, not enough dialogue.

5.) The main character was boring, annoying, whiny, and lacked a personality of any kind.

6.) There was no connection between the reader and the characters or between the reader and the story.

Overall I was like, "WHO CARES?"  I'm sorry I just could not get into A Thousand Nights. Neither the story or characters interested me and that is a MUST have for me.
