You Can Do Whatever The F*ckety F*ck You Want Adult Coloring BookReview & GIVEAWAY!!

Thank you to Bad Words Books for providing a copy of You Can Do Whatever The F*ckety F*ck You Want: An Adult Coloring Book Filled With Swear Word Affirmations in exchange for an honest review!

You may not know this about me, but I love swearing. I also really enjoy adult coloring. Something that these two things have in common is that they both help me to de-stress. So I was really excited when I saw this coloring book that combines both of these things and with affirmations! Coloring, swearing, and affirmations?! This is the perfect combo for de-stressing.
 #OhHellYesDeStress

When I received the coloring book in the mail one of the first things I noticed was that it's not very big. There are only 21 one sided pages and that's all. I was surprised that it's so short, but the coloring pages it does have are very excellent quality.

I love the designs and the best part is that they aren't TOO detailed. The picture on top with the lion is detailed, but not overly so. The pictures don't get more detailed than that, which is good for those of us who don't have a lot of patience for SUPER intricate designs. *Cough. Me. Cough.* The one on the bottom is very simple and I completed it in one afternoon. There are a few more designs like that as well. I am very glad there is a mix of difficult to easy because I'm not always in the mood for just one or the other.

Overall I am loving this adult coloring book!! It's DEFINITELY for ADULTS. The affirmations are hilarious and this is such a perfect coloring book to relax and de-stress with. It's a lot of fun to color and I'm having a blast with it. I'll be posting more pictures on my Instagram account as I color more of the pages.

Top Ten Tuesday- Top FIVE Books That Will Make You Laugh

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme hosted here at The Broke and the Bookish. The topic for this week is Top Ten Books To Make You Laugh.

So for my list I could only come up with five books that REALLY make me laugh. I don't read a lot of humor novels, but I do love when my books have some humor in it. These are the few that have made me laugh out loud the most.

1. The Stephanie Plum Series By: Janet Evanovich

I just love this series and Stephanie is HILARIOUS. She is always getting herself into the funniest situations.  Also, Lula is just as funny!

2. The Dresden Files By: Jim Butcher

I know I've talked about this UF series a lot, but have I mentioned how hilarious Harry Dresden is? He is another character that is always getting into comical situations and his witty sarcasm is top notch.

3. A Man Called Ove By: Fredrik Backman

Ove is so grumpy, but hilarious! This one is very touching and emotional, but there are a lot of parts that had me laughing out loud.

4. Napalm & Silly Putty By: George Carlin

George Carlin. No more needs to be said here.

5. Bossypants By: Tina Fey

While I've never really seen anything with Tina Fey in it (Does Mean Girls count?),  her book is hilarious!! Definitely worth a read whether you're a fan of Tina or not.

So that's it for my list this week. It's super short, but I still wanted to do this topic because these books are so damn funny. Have you read any of these? What humorous books would you recommend?

Sanyare: The Last Descendant By: Megan Haskell Review

Thank you to Megan Haskell for providing a copy of Sanyare in exchange for an honest review.

Summary from Goodreads-

Trained as an elite fighter and educated in the ways of the elves, Nuriel "Rie" Lhethannian has worked decades to be accepted into the High Court messenger service. It's a simple enough occupation, but in a realm where humans are treated as little better than slaves, it's a position she'll do anything to protect.

On a routine delivery in the Human Realm, Rie is attacked by assassins from the enemy Shadow Realm and framed as a traitor. Facing execution at the hand of an unmerciful king, she evades capture and crosses the portal into enemy lands to prove her innocence.

Surprising allies arise from the shadows, assisting her search and discovering secrets she didn't know she kept. With the risk of discovery lurking at every turn, Rie must use every weapon in her arsenal to uncover the truth behind the attack. If she fails, death will be the least of her worries.

Featuring a lowly human caught between two great faerie realms, a dark elf prince with unnatural fire magic, a blood sidhe merchant's son with ambitions beyond business, and a mischievous swarm of pixies, Sanyare: The Last Descendant is a New Adult coming of age adventure you won't want to put down.

My Review-

Wow! Sanyare has some great world building, you can tell the author spent a lot of time developing it. I have to say for an indie book I was surprised just how well done it was. I also just LOVE the characters. Rie is kick ass and a great heroine to root for. I'm really interested to see where her journey takes her next. I liked the prince too! And of course the PIXIES!!! I love the pixies so much. They were hilarious, feisty, and fun. I haven't read that many books that have pixies in it.

Overall Sanyare was a lot better than I had expected it to be. It has everything you need for a good novel. A bad ass heroine, funny side characters, great world building, and an interesting story that leaves you wanting more.

I recommend Sanyare: The Last Descendant for fans of fantasy, faeries, elves & pixies, and kick ass female heroines.

Ouran High School Host Club Vol.2 By: Bisco Hatori Mini Review

The second volume of Ouran High School Host Club includes where Haruhi has to take a physical exam, Hunny goes missing at Kyoya's family pool resort, Tamaki has apprentice, and the twins are fighting.

If you have seen the anime then you pretty much know what to expect out of Volume two, but it's still worth a read. Of course the characters are all up to their usual antics and this one goes deeper into some of the characters. I especially like when the twins fight. I just love this series!! It's hilarious, intelligent, charming, and a lot deeper than you would think. I can't wait to read volume three.

The only thing I didn't like in this volume was the Romantic Egoist bonus story. It's something else Bisco Hatori did before writing the host club. I honestly didn't read all of that story, but I still rated this one 5 stars. I don't think it would be fair take off stars for bonus material that has nothing to do with Ouran.

I recommend this to anyone who loves manga and satire. It's not just for girls either!

SHIPPING/Between the Lines By: Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer Review

As some of you may know I attend a YA book club IRL once a month. This month's book selection is Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and her daughter Samantha Van Leer. It's a funny story how this book came to be the one the book club decided to read. Someone in our book club began talking about "shipping." Which it turned out a lot of people had no clue what it means to "ship."  This lead to a HUGE conversation about "shipping." Which then lead to someone bringing up Between the Lines. In Between the Lines Delilah definitely ships Oliver, who is a fictional prince from a fairy tale storybook. Then one day Oliver actually talks to Delilah. It turns out he feels trapped in the book and he wants to be in the real world. Whoa, that's pretty crazy!

For those who don't know here is the definition of "ship" from Urban Dictionary:

I have read that Jodi Picoult was out on a book tour when her daughter Samantha called her and told her the idea she had for Between the Lines. I have read some of Jodi Picoult's other novels and I can tell you this one is definitely not like those. I really liked the idea of Jodi and her daughter writing a novel together and it turned out well.

Mostly.

I have to say one thing I didn't care for was that the story was pretty predictable. There really wasn't anything that happened that surprised me. Although probably the thing I really didn't care for most was the actual fairy tale. Okay, so Between the Lines is told in three perspectives :

1.) Delilah's
2.) Oliver's
3.) Then there is the fairy tale story that Oliver is in.

Well I enjoyed Delilah and Oliver's point of view quite a bit. Especially the parts where they were interacting, but the fairy tale parts were a little dull for me. Those parts just seemed disconnected from the other sections. I didn't find anything in it that was necessary for the overall story.

I LOVED all the parts where Delilah and Oliver were interacting with each other. When they are connecting and trying to figure out how to get Oliver out of the book it was just so good. Those are the best parts in the book!! Yes, I definitely SHIP Delilah and Oliver's relationship!!!

I also really enjoyed how Delilah and Oliver had kind of the opposite problem. Delilah is a loner who spends so much time with her head in the book. Even before Oliver speaks to her, she connects with his fictional character and uses the book as an escape. On the other hand, Oliver is stuck playing his role over and over and all he wants is to escape the book. There is one paragraph in particular about this that was really thought provoking. I won't quote it because it's too long, you will just have to read the book!

Overall I found Between the Lines to be an average book. It was good, but not great. I don't think I will read the sequel. I don't feel like I need any other information. I was satisfied with the ending of this novel. The story feels finished and complete to me. However, I would be very interested to read something Samantha wrote on her own. I definitely see potential for Samantha Van Leer as an author and I hope to see more from her in the future.

I recommend Between the Lines to "shippers" everywhere, fans of  YA romantic cheesiness, fairy tale lovers, and to those who get too connected to book characters.

Thug Notes By: Sparky Sweets PhD. ARC Review

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for allowing me to read and review Thug Notes by Sparky Sweets, PhD.

I have been looking forward to reading this book ever since I first heard about it a few months ago. I was extremely curious to see what classic literature meets gangsta entailed exactly. So I looked up the YouTube videos and watched some while I was waiting to read the book.

You can find the videos here Thug Notes.

The videos are funny as hell and the book is filled with hilarity as well. If you've ever seen one of the videos that is pretty much what you can expect from the book. In the book Sparky Sweets adds a gangsta twist on classic literature such as: To Kill a Mockingbird, Romeo & Juliet, Frankenstein, The Scarlet Letter, Moby Dick, Pride & Prejudice, and Lord of the Flies.

Thug Notes breaks down the plots of sixteen famous classic novels, gives you important character information, an analysis of each novel, and there are some illustrations throughout. The (gangsta) vocabulary used in the novel is not only there to make you laugh out loud though. It also shows that classic literature can be broken down in a way that everyone today can understand and appreciate.

I wish I had this book when I was a high school student. Even though I was an avid reader, classic literature terrified me. There were a few classics I read in high school and I loved. Yet, I still thought that maybe I wasn't smart enough to read and connect to classic literature. As I grew older I read more classic novels and I found this wasn't the case. Now many of my favorite books are classics. I think this book could help many people read and understand classic literature. Thug Notes shows that these novels are still interesting and relevant for today's society.

Overall Thug Notes is extremely humorous and insightful. I recommend this for high school students, parents of high school students, and anyone who may be a bit intimidated by the classics like I was.
