Short Review Summary:
A sweet story with excellent characters.
I really enjoyed The Guardian's Heart and most everything about it. However, I did have a couple of issues that kept me from giving it five stars. The biggest issue that I have is the world building. I really wanted more of it! There were times while reading that I had a hard time focusing because I was trying to figure out the world. By the end of the novel I just felt like something was missing in the world building department.
#MoreWorldBuildingNeeded
The other tiny issues I have is the few chapters from Christian's POV and the love triangle that really wasn't. I could have done without both of these things. They just seemed so unnecessary to the story and it wasn't full blown enough to be exciting for me.
#UnnecesaryToTheStory
I will say though that I really loved Christian's character. As a matter of fact I really loved all of the characters!! I connected with Lilly and Jay right away and their story is wonderfully written. I love how everything between them is so natural and easy. I also really loved Sky and the friendship between her and Lilly. I would have liked to have seen even more of that friendship and the friendship between Lilly and Christian.
#CharactersOnPoint
Overall I liked The Guardian's Heart quite a bit despite a few issues. I did struggle with the world building, but the story and characters are where the book really shines. The premise is unique and I absolutely loved the characters and the story.
#TheStoryAndCharactersShine
I recommend The Guardian's Heart for fans of romance/fantasy novels about soulmates.
