Top Ten Tuesday- Top Ten Covers I Wish Would Get Redesigned

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme hosted here at The Broke and the Bookish. The topic for this week is Top Ten Childhood Characters You'd Love To Revisit As Adults.

I wasn't really feeling the topic this week about childhood characters so I picked one from the list of previously done topics. I decided to to Top Ten Covers I Wish Would Get Redesigned. I wanted to do this topic because recently there have been some cover reveals that I really just LOVED (Beautiful Broken Girls, Caraval) and some that I didn't care for as much (A Torch Against the Night) and it got me thinking about covers in general. I am a sucker for a good cover. I know the saying don't judge a book by it's cover and I FULLY agree that you should not judge a book by it's ugly cover. However if the cover is gorgeous I will admit it makes me want to read it more. What's wrong with that?! So here are some GREAT books with UGLY covers that I really wish had better covers to match what's inside.

1. Bossypants By: Tina Fey

I'm sorry, but those man hands have got to go. Bossypants is a really great book, but this cover just doesn't go well with it for me.

2. The Host By: Stephenie Meyer

I think this cover is just really blah and unexciting. The Host was a little difficult to get into in the beginning, but overall the book was pretty good. I think that cover would make some people put off on reading it.

3. Divergent Series By: Veronica Roth

Sorry, but I hate the Divergent series covers. I think they look odd. I do think the one for Allegiant is the better cover (best of the worst) of the three, but I hated that book. :/

4. Playlist for the Dead By: Michelle Falkoff

The hardback cover for Playlist of the Dead is boring, but it isn't too terrible. It got worse with the paperback cover. I don't like the word in yellow and the rest is just a boring set of headphones. ZZZ...

5. Daughter of Deep Silence By: Carrie Ryan

I had to put this one on here just for this paperback cover. The hardback cover isn't bad. I actually kind of like it with the red and the font for the words. I don't know what they were thinking with the paperback cover though. Everything about it is hideous. The color is weird, it's dull, I don't like the color of the words on top of the blue. It's just bad.

6. Interview with the Vampire By: Anne Rice

Can Interview with the Vampire get a good cover? Nope.

7. The Notebook By: Nicholas Sparks

Okay so I picked The Notebook, but what I really mean is ALL Nicholas Sparks books. There's a trend here obviously and it's BORING.

8. If I Stay By: Gayle Forman

If I Stay is such a good book! These covers are not good though. Bleh. I don't even know what else to say about them because they are so dull.

9. Mechanica By: Betsy Cornwell

Okay, the cover for Mechanica isn't THAT bad. I do like the writing and the colors. However, there is something kind of junky looking about it. I don't know. The book is really great and I would like to see a new cover for it.

10. The Girl from the Well By: Rin Chupeco

I didn't like the hardback cover for this one. Maybe because I hate birds? I'm not sure. The paperback cover is better, but I'm pretty meh about it overall. Maybe it's the color of the letters because I like the cover for the sequel, The Suffering, just fine.

Notable Mention:

A Torch Against the Night By: Sabaa Tahir

This one is a notable mention since I haven't read it yet. The first one was so great I'm assuming this one will be as well.  So I'm sorry to all the people I know are going to hate me for this one, but I don't like this cover. I know, I know I saw everyone on Twitter raving about how good it is. I don't agree and it's not even out yet and I want it redesigned. Sorry.

So that's it for my Top Ten Tuesday! What do you guys think about these covers? What covers would you just LOVE to see redesigned?
