Waiting on Wednesday- Firstlife By: Gena Showalter

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature/meme hosted here at Breaking the Spine. The idea behind it is to share upcoming releases that we can't wait to get our hands on!

So my pick for this week is Firstlife By: Gena Showalter. I love Gena Showalter's writing and I am so excited about this first novel in a new series. For those of you who haven't read any of her novels yet, I highly recommend the White Rabbit Chronicles and The Lords of the Underworld series. I'm really anxious to get my hands on this one because the concept is really fascinating. I'm curious about the two realms and the Everlife and what exactly it is like. Plus I know that if Gena Showalter is writing it then it will be good!

Expected Publication Date: February 23, 2016

Summary From Goodreads:

ONE CHOICE.

TWO REALMS.

NO SECOND CHANCE.

Tenley "Ten" Lockwood is an average seventeen-year-old girl... who has spent the past thirteen months locked inside the Prynne Asylum. The reason? Not her obsession with numbers, but her refusal to let her parents choose where she'll live--after she dies.

There is an eternal truth most of the world has come to accept: Firstlife is merely a dress rehearsal, and real life begins after death.

In the Everlife, two realms are in power: Troika and Myriad, longtime enemies and deadly rivals. Both will do anything to recruit Ten, including sending their top Laborers to lure her to their side. Soon, Ten finds herself on the run, caught in a wild tug-of-war between two realms who will do anything to win the right to her soul. Who can she trust? And what if the realm she's drawn to isn't home to the boy she is falling for? She just has to stay alive long enough to make a decision...

  1. I so need to try this author and this looks fantastic! Maybe it would be a great place to start with her?

    1. Maybe! If not, then I would recommend starting with the White Rabbit Chronicles if you want YA of The Lords of the Underwold for adult paranormal romance, but I'm biased because I love those series so much. I still need to finish the lords of the underworld series myself though. :)

  2. Uuuhhh I've seen this one around but I still don't get the concept much... a girl is torn between two "soul" realms where she will live after death? If she doesn't write and develop it the right way it can end in disaster :D I may give it a chance though (after I read a few good reviews)

    Thanks!

    1. I kinda get it, and I kinda don't. Lol. That's what's so fascinating to me about the concept. I really think it will be good since she is an awesome writer, but it is a bit confusing from the blurb.

  3. I LOVE this book's cover! I can't see myself reading it because it sounds like there will be a love triangle. I did love Showalter's other YA series (and her adult romance novels too)! I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!

    Have a fabulous week. :)

    Check out my WoW post!
