Insane Genre Challenge For 2016
I found this challenge a while back in a reading group on Facebook, but I don't remember what website it is originally from. It had a list of genres for three different levels which I think were: easy, hard, and insane. I saved the insane one, but I don't remember what genres the other lists had on them. Sorry!
This past summer I did a genre challenge through my local library and I loved it. Unfortunately, it was only about six books and the genres weren't really a challenge for me. I was hoping to find something a bit more out of my comfort zone that would definitely be challenging. This one has some genres I don't usually read, so I'm really excited to do it. It's going to be a struggle, but I'm thrilled about it and I will keep everyone updated on my progress here on my blog. I'm sure at some point I will need some helping picking books for a few of these genres as well.
Also, if anyone would like to do the Insane Genre Challenge with me, then please do! What you will do is read one book from each genre listed here throughout the year, in no particular order, until you have read a book from each. I hope that by the end of 2016 I will have completed the challenge and be more confident reading books from any genre.
Here is the list of genres:

DeleteI won't be participating in this challenge but I am doing the PopSugar 2016 challenge which does cover a lot of genres. I will also (obviously) be doing the Goodreads annual personal challenge.

What will your Goodreads goal be? I haven't decided for mine yet.
DeleteThere are some genres I would skip, but this is a great way to get yourself to diversify your reading!

Which ones would you skip? It sure will be. I can't wait.
DeleteBest of luck with this challenge. I've been meaning to find a specific challenge to try this year, and I'll be happy to join you on this! (:
ReplyDeleteThank you! Good luck to you as well. I'll be setting up a goodreads group for it very soon. :D
DeleteI will definitely be doing this challenge! There are many genres I haven't explored yet and I think this will be a fun way to broaden my reading. Great idea!
ReplyDeletePS.. this is me. I accidentally forgot to put my name on my comment lol
DeleteI know just what you mean. I feel like there are so many genres I haven't read many (or any) in. Good luck to you!!
DeleteThis is such an amazing idea. I will think about joining. I like to be stretched when it comes to reading genres. The self help category would be my toughest read. I simply despise it. Best of luck with your goals.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like to be stretched when it comes to genres as well. Good luck if you decide to do it!
